FASHION

Recently Robyn was invited to hand-paint a number of Diva Drapes for the Wearable Art collection of Pacific Breeze Australia.

Robyn was selected as one of five designers to showcase fashion at POSITIVE RUNWAY, Global Catwalk, Global Village, Melbourne on 23rd July, 2014. This is an international event attracting 20,000 visitors annually.

In 2003, Robyn became the first Aboriginal designer to show a ready-to-wear fashion collection at Australian Fashion Week.

From events such as Mercedes Fashion Week Australia and The Great Australian Fashion Show, to international fashion hotspots such as New York and Milan (where Robyn had her own fashion show), her flattering designs have been showcased on the catwalk and in many boutiques.

Her gowns have been shown in Helsinki, Petersburg and Dubai, and at the World Fashion Show, held in honour of the Sydney Olympics. (Robyn was an organiser of this event.) Robyn has also designed gowns on commission for people like EMMY Award nominee, Darlene Johnson (director of Stolen Generations). Her gowns are unique, hand-painted creations.

In 2009, Robyn won the Deadly Awards for the Deadliest Dress and was a finalist for this award in 2010.

The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in Penrith commissioned Robyn to design 15 costumes for the “Mythical Dreamtime” Fashion Parade.

Her gowns for Australia‘s National Costume have featured prominently in the Miss Teen Australia, Miss World and Miss Universe pageants, winning several awards. She has also designed for Miss Earth Australia and Asian World Supermodel. In 2013, Robyn was honoured at the Miss Teen Australia National Competition for her contributions over the previous years.

The Powerhouse Museum, Sydney has purchased two of Robyn’s gowns for their permanent collection. One of these, the Aboriginal Wedding Dress, is used as part of the Higher School Certificate in Textiles and Design.

Many of her gowns are hand-painted and feature motifs inspired by Robyn's indigenous heritage or by Australia's natural landscape. These creations are truly wearable works of art.
